St Augustine Sailing Sisters will host their 4th Annual Spring “Foward” Sailboat Race this Sunday, March 8, 2020, starting at 1:00 pm on the Intracoastal Waterway north of the Vilano Beach Bridge.
A new Ready4Work program location in St. Johns County is set to open tomorrow; Monday March 2, 2020. Jacksonville-based “Operation New Hope”, operators of the Ready4Work program in St. Augustine, will open its doors at 83 Washington Street to help people returning from incarceration.
The St Augustine Beach Police Department reported to Historic City News that a new program is being implemented to alert property owners to make sure their valuables are removed, and their vehicles and property is secured.

The rumble of motorcycle exhaust pipes these days echoes well beyond Daytona Beach’s Main Street — the traditional epicenter for the iconic spring event.
This week the House Appropriations Committee approved House member Tyler Sirois‘ bill (HB-389) that will allow pharmacists to administer flu tests; something that, in Historic City News’ view, is way overdue. St Augustine Republican Senator Travis Hutson is advancing a more limited proposal (SB-714) that would authorize licensed pharmacists, not just physicians, to offer flu testing and treatment to patients ranging from 18 to 75 years of age.
The Florida Bar, the state’s guardian for the integrity of the legal profession, announced to local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court recently ordered disciplined 11 attorneys, disbarring two, reprimanding two, admonishing one, placing one on probation and suspending six.
On Monday, March 2nd, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., Historic City News will be following the actions of members of the St. Augustine Beach City Commission during a special meeting, the purpose of which is to discuss legal services.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported to Historic City News tonight that troopers are monitoring a 185-acre prescribed burn in the Guana River State Park in St. Johns County. Smoke from the burn is affecting driving conditions as far away as SR-202 (J. Turner Butler Boulevard) between Kernan and Hodges Boulevard, in Duval County.
