St Johns County deputy returns fire killing armed suspect

Historic City News has been informed that three St Johns County deputy sheriffs have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the shooting death of an armed driver believed to have committed at least two hit-and-run crashes in Flagler county midday on Wednesday.

Maltz rules Haigler to serve an eight-year prison sentence

Leaving the scene of an automobile collision where the crash led to the death of one or more persons is a first-degree felony in Florida; and, yesterday, St Johns County resident Henry Haigler was sentenced to serve eight-years in a state prison facility for the commission of that crime.

Vicky Oakes, St Johns County Supervisor of Elections in St Augustine, informed local Historic City News reporters that she has instituted additional measures to protect poll workers and voters traveling to one of the six voting locations.

Businesses at the Beach are voluntarily going green

Historic City News received word from the City of St. Augustine Beach announcing that they are “Going Green” this year. Starting January 1, 2020, the City is launching a “Go Green SAB” campaign, which encourages businesses within the city limits of St. Augustine Beach to voluntarily eliminate single-use plastics products.
