One month ago I could not have imagined that I would be writing to you from my home office, with my teenaged son completing school in the next room, and my college senior daughter writing a thesis alone in her Oregon apartment with no hope of the graduation celebration we’d all looked forward to for so long. Life has changed dramatically for all of us.
Because of the fact that St Johns County commissioners say they “lost faith” in former county administrator Michael Wanchick and his ability to effectively manage county staff, Wanchick was terminated by unanimous consent of The Board November 19, 2019.
During tomorrow’s special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, Historic City News subscribers will want to consider alternatives to physically attending.
As the COVID-19 pandemic challenges Florida families, officials with Florida Prepaid College Savings Plans have deferred payments for April, May, and June. The move will help longtime plan-holders and those who just signed up during the 2020 Open Enrollment Period that started on February 1st and runs through April 30th.
William M Manley, spokesman for the St Augustine Public Affairs Office of the Florida National Guard, reported to Historic City News that the Guard continues to respond to the needs of the state; alongside interagency partners, helping to protect citizens, and guests throughout this crisis.
There have been a total of 1,887 COVID-19 tests administered for St Johns County. Of those, 127-patients tested positive. Of the remainder, Historic City News has learned that 1,719-patients tested negative, we are awaiting results on 41, and 1-test was inconclusive.
