Office of the St Johns County Medical Examiner in the national news – again

A couple of weeks ago, Historic City News learned that the St Johns County Medical Examiner’s Office was back in the national news.  Last time it was about the current and former medical examiners’ being disciplined by the state board over the homicide-turned-suicide finding of the death of Michelle O’Connell. This time, it was District 23 Associate Medical Examiner Deanna A Oleske writing to our newly minted county administrator, Hunter Conrad, on March 23, pleading, “Close the beaches. Please.”

Lauren Ferro, St. Johns County Communications Specialist, announced to local Historic City News reporters that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will hold a special meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, in the Auditorium of the County Administration Building located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.

Tax certificates to be sold against delinquent property next week

Historic City News has been provided with an update from Dennis W. Hollingsworth, St. Johns County Tax Collector, as his office recovers from a shutdown caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.  The Main Office located at the St Johns County Courthouse, the Julington Creek branch, and Ponte Vedra Beach branch are all open to serve residents of St Johns County, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., until further notice.

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of James Samuel Stuart announces to Historic City News his sudden passing on Sunday May 3, 2020 at age 64 from complications related to COVID-19.  Jimmy was born in St. Augustine, Florida in August 1955.
