On Saturday, December 3, Historic City News subscribers are invited to participate when St Johns County celebrates 450 years of West African influence in the community with the 9th Annual SEA Community Gullah Geechee Heritage Festival, which will take place from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Armstrong Park, 4950 Harvey Avenue in Elkton.

On Saturday, October 15, the St Augustine Lighthouse celebrates the 148th birthday of its initial lighting with the launch of a replica 1760 Royal Navy yawl boat built by the Heritage Boatworks volunteer program.

St Augustine’s Solid Waste Division will once again be collecting residential recycling next Thursday, October 20 or Friday, October 21 after a pause in the service due to the city’s focus on Hurricane Ian-related debris and waste collection.
Complimentary satellite parking and a shuttle service to the St. Johns County and St. Augustine Visitor Information Center will be available to the public on Saturday, October 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to facilitate attendance at the Rotary Club’s Rhythm and Ribs Festival.
