Learn about native wildflowers this month
Vice President of the Sea Oats Chapter of Florida Native Plant Society, George Waters, announced to Historic City News that this month’s program will be “Native Wildflowers” when the local chapter meets on Tuesday, November 20.


Last year, Historic City News reported that more than 18,000 donations of non-perishable food items were collected by the St Johns County Public Libraries in lieu of overdue library fines; and this year, the program looks forward to breaking that record.
The Friends of the Main Library announced to Historic City News that they will hold a membership meeting on Tuesday, December 4th at the Main Library from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
With 72.5% of the votes cast, St Johns County has a new Representative in the Florida House; Republican Ronald “Doc” Renuart won election last night with 63,599 votes; sending the Ponte Vedra Beach physician to Tallahassee for his second term — but first term in the newly crafted District 17.
At an election event sponsored by Florida Senator John Thrasher last night, Commissioner-elect Bill McClure told Historic City News editor Michael Gold that he has been “eager to get to work” since being declared the winner of ex-commissioner Mark Miner’s seat on the St Johns County Commission for District 3.
Historic City News was informed that Roxanne Horvath was elected to the St Augustine City Commission Tuesday; replacing 10-year incumbent Errol Jones, who lost his bid for reelection in the August primary.
In election results that started off strong and kept getting stronger, St Johns County Commissioner Cyndi Stevenson had lots to celebrate as returns were tabulated in her bid for a third term, and were announced to a crowd of about 100 guests of Florida Senator John Thrasher last night.
