Letter: St Augustine High School not safe for daughter

Dear Historic City News editor:
My daughter attends St Augustine High School and, although Friday is the last day of class, I fear for her safe return after the summer break. The sheriff is not watching the youth resource deputies. The principals are not watching the teachers, and, the School Board is not watching what is happening in the district schools.
After a lot of patronizing from the St Augustine City Manager’s office, Historic City News learned today that crow will be eaten as the City admits that there is no “historic preservation plan” that they will employ that offsets the potential liability of the nearly 75-year-old wood-frame termite trap acquired as part of the Coquina Avenue land grab earlier this year.

Troopers told Historic City News that 16-year-old Zander Laurin of Ponte Vedra Beach was jogging in the southbound bicycle lane of SR-A1A near Mickler’s Landing at 5:55 a.m. when he was hit by a 2012 Toyota Tundra that drifted out of its lane; striking Laurin from behind.
Nancy Bloch, Executive Director of Communications & Public Relations for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind informed local Historic City News reporters of an endowment gift of $250,000 from the Lastinger Family Foundation in honor of Dr. Thomas M. Zavelson, who provides invaluable service to the school as a member of the FSDB Board of Trustees. The Foundation encourages the FSDB community and supporters to donate as well, as they will match donations dollar for dollar, up to a maximum amount of $250,000.
