Officials to attend regional leadership forum

Today, Historic City News was advised by the Office of Public Affairs of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners that one or more St. Johns County Commissioners may attend a Regional Leadership Forum presented by Cornerstone at the St. Johns County Convention Center in World Golf Village on Wednesday and Thursday, May 28-29, 2008.
IRS stimulus payment e-mail scam

Looking very official, the following e-mail – which was sent from a computer in the United Kingdom – was received by an editor at Historic City Media this morning; purporting to be a confirmation of the 2007 economic stimulus payment from the Internal Revenue Service.
Those who are duped and respond to the linked inquiry form will have their most important personal identification information compromised by this almost believable Internet phishing scheme.
County Candidates Forum

The St. Johns County Civic Association Roundtable will host a County Candidates Forum on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The event will be held at the County Auditorium located at 4020 Lewis Speedway.
Anastasia Mosquito Control District open house

According to an announcement received by Historic City News from Gina LeBlanc, the Anastasia Mosquito Control District has extended an invitation for the public to attend an open house in order to learn what services the district provides to St. Johns County and how the public can “fight the bite.â€
Enchantment on the Orient Express

Preparations are under way for the Flagler Health Care Foundation’s June 21 Gala VI, Enchantment on the Orient Express, at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort located in Palm Coast.
The committee, chaired by Mr. and Mrs. Brendan O’Connell and Dr. and Mrs. William Platko, will take guests on an imaginary journey through Germany, Italy, France and England.
Man found beaten in West Augustine
A suspect or suspects are being sought in connection with the beating of a 49-year old St. Johns County man found early this morning. The victim was found on the ground by a passerby at 6:30 a.m. near the area of W. King St. and S. St. Johns Ave.
