Although lawmakers failed to deliver on some critical legislation this year, they did manage to find time to pass into law a bill that would establish “strawberry shortcake” as Florida’s official dessert. Senate Bill 1006 was the companion to a House bill filed in November by Representatives Lawrence McClure of Dover and Demi Busatta Cabrera of Coral Gables.  Historic City News has learned that Governor Ron DeSantis has already signed the bill, making it official.

St Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Brandon J Patty reported to Historic City News that his office will hold its annual Operation Green Light driver license reinstatement event starting today, Monday, April 4, 2022, through Friday, April 8, 2022.  Last year, 184 cases were paid in full in St Johns County’s week-long program.

The Republican Party of Florida informed local Historic City News reporters that as of Tuesday, March 29, 2022, Florida Republicans have reached a historic new milestone.  Crediting Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, the GOP states that the Party has exceeded Democrats by more than 100,000 active voter registrations.
