Florida Supreme Court disciplines 10 attorneys

Leslie H. Smith, spokesman for the Department of Lawyer Regulation of The Florida Bar informed local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court has recently disciplined ten attorneys, disbarring one, revoking the licenses of one, suspending six and reprimanding two. One attorney was ordered to pay restitution.  Attorneys suspended for periods of 91 days and longer must undergo a rigorous process to regain their law licenses including proving rehabilitation. Disciplinary revocation is tantamount to disbarment.

Replanting Vilano Beach dunes requires removal of all personal property

The Jacksonville District office of the US Army Corps of Engineers has asked Historic City News to notify subscribers in the Vilano Beach, North Beach and Surfside areas to collect all portable personal property like beach and patio furniture, volleyball nets, temporary fencing and similar seasonal amenities from the dunes so that the final stages of beach renourishment can conclude.

On October 10, 1991, St Augustine and St Johns County lost folk musician James Gamble Rogers III.  The popular 54-year-old local performer and famed storyteller, whose life and legacy has been celebrated annually during a festival in St Augustine that carries his name, features national, regional, and local musicians performing on several stages.
