New Year’s is always a time to reflect—and look forward. I’ve never been a fan of New Year’s resolutions that are overly ambitious. They seem destined to fall away in a few weeks, like when an irresistible piece of chocolate cake makes its way into your kitchen, for example.
Letter: Why have Lights if you don’t want visitors
Kelly Jo Boyce
Sanford, FL
Dear Editor:
My family and I traveled 1-1/2 hours to your beautiful city this past weekend to see the Nights of Lights and celebrate in the festivities. We love to visit St Augustine and this was our first time visiting during Christmas.
In the book of Genesis, we learn that in the middle of the Garden of Eden stood the Tree of Life, the metaphoric source of all knowledge and understanding of good and evil.
There are not too many people that Historic City News readers might know that are more pro-law enforcement than me. I went to community college using law enforcement administration grants, received my Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, and, later, my Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, with honors.

Flagler College Class of ’14
Dear HCN Editor and Flagler Gargoyle readers:
What are we supposed to walk away with as we graduate from college? An increased sense of self? Greater critical thinking skills? A more opened mind? That’s what the promise is. We spend years writing, reading and forming opinions of our own. By the time you’re a senior in college, you should be well acquainted with the concept of the free exchange of ideas.
