The Broward county sheriff said 17 people are dead in the Wednesday shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the city of Parkland, northwest of Fort Lauderdale. He said the shooter is in custody, according to a 10:00 p.m. press update received by Historic City News.

Historic City News has learned that at about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, two federal and one county law enforcement officer exercised lethal force while attempting to capture a single, middle-aged, 190-lb former lawyer, who was unarmed, but had an arrest warrant issued against him in the District of New Hampshire.

A fugitive, wanted in connection with charges of aggravated sexual battery against a child under the age of 15, has been shot and killed at the door to his motel room on SR-16 at I-95 by members of a joint local-federal law enforcement task force attempting to execute an arrest warrant.
