In the aftermath of two days of violent riots in Florida and across the country, our thoughts and prayers are with our leaders and law enforcement officers who are attempting to protect property and save lives on the heels of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.  The lawless vandals responsible have exploited the tragic death of a fellow American and are using it as an excuse to wreak destruction around our nation.

Sheriff candidates file qualifying paperwork early for August Primary Election

Although qualifying for election to hold county offices is held from noon, June 8, 2020, through noon, June 12, 2020, Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes told local Historic City News reporters that, pursuant to Section 99.061(8), F.S., her office technically began accepting qualifying papers beginning May 25, 2020, even though the office was closed for Memorial Day. Today Chris Strickland and Rob Hardwick each appeared at her office, eager to get their paperwork in the queue to run for sheriff.
