Archaeologists at the Florida Museum of Natural History reminded Historic City News local reporters of something almost all our readers already know — the story of the Pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving in 1621 has a catch. The Pilgrims’ Thanksgiving wasn’t the first.

The Florida Bar, the state’s guardian for the integrity of the legal profession, announced to local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court has disciplined Erin Rebecca Waskiewicz, a St Johns County attorney; one of 22 attorneys to be disciplined in recent court orders. Two attorneys were ordered to pay restitution and one was given probation. The court acted to disbar six, revoke the licenses of nine, and suspend seven. Disciplinary revocation is tantamount to disbarment.

St Johns County notified Historic City News under the Neighborhood Bill of Rights that there will be a discussion about temporary morning hours access and parking to beach access points on Ponte Vedra Boulevard from 545 Ponte Vedra Boulevard to 311 Ponte Vedra Boulevard.

Historic City News has learned that while patrolling downtown at about 2:11 a.m. Saturday morning November 23, St Augustine Police Officer Jonathan Correa was hailed by management at the White Lion Tavern on Cuna Street. Three patrons were refusing to leave the bar after “last call” and one man was in the middle of “a screaming match” with the bouncer, Correa reported.

St Johns County Director of Communications Michael Ryan reported to Historic City News that all departments of the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St Johns County Administrative offices, and the Pet Center will be closed Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The St. Augustine Art Association informed local Historic City News reporters that during the months of November and December, they will host an exhibition of the works of Virginia Nolan (1921-1996), a twentieth century artist who spent the last decade of her life in St. Augustine.
