St Augustine Fire Chief Carlos Aviles reported to Historic City News that it is with great sadness that he announces the passing of retired Fire Chief Jay Philip Kennedy on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Kennedy was 78-years-old.
Historic City News was informed by local police that a felony search warrant was executed yesterday morning at about 6:00 a.m. by members of the St Augustine Police Special Response Team and the Investigations Unit at a residence located at 101 West Carver Street on Anastasia Island.
If there has ever been criticism of recent administrations at City Hall, the un-Godly length of the meetings, largely caused by unnecessary pablum from the commission table, must be at the top of the list. City residents might start participating in the meetings again if they know that the chair won’t delay them all night listening to a bunch of worthless, dumb, silly, and especially empty remarks from the “me too” gang of commissioners.
Historic City News followed up with St Augustine resident Kevin Crowell after our interview last month to see how well his first effort at a homeless camp clean up worked out. According to Crowell, the spirit behind Operation Clean Camp 2019, on the scheduled Saturday, they were able to cover a 300-meter area of litter, hauling out over 1700 lbs. of waste and debris.
Historic City News was informed that Trinity Episcopal Parish is welcoming their new Rector, Rev. Matt Marino, and his wife Kari. Fr Matt fills the position opened by the retirement of Fr. David Weidner on September 1, 2018.
