Orlando Ramirez II was recognized and appointed by the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Army as “Ambassador of the Marca Ejercito” on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, during a ceremony at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine.

Carolyn Karger reported to Historic City News today that the following programs will be held at the Council on Aging’s River House, located at 179 Marine Street in St. Augustine.  Registration is required and space is limited for the 4-week long classes that begin in the first full week of February.

St Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau reported to Historic City News that the following local restaurants and attractions will be open with modified hours on Christmas Eve and will be open on Christmas Day.

The City of St Augustine Beach invites all Historic City News readers to enjoy today’s Surf Illumination and upcoming Light UP the BEACH events.  This holiday season the City has planned several fun events set against a backdrop of colorful lights all along Beach Boulevard.

The Office of Public Affairs for St Johns County reported to Historic City News yesterday that readers will be able to enjoy the Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park during the coming Thanksgiving holiday.

It is with a great deal of sorrow that Historic City News reports the passing of a true St Augustine leader, former Mayor Edward George Mussallem. Eddy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 97. He was a lifelong St. Augustine resident, businessman, and civic leader, born in 1924 to Lebanese immigrants, Abraham and Olga Mussallem.
