Cocaine washed ashore on beach in the Hammock

On Friday evening November 15th, about 7:00 p.m. Flagler County deputy Dana Smith responded to the residence of an anonymous caller on Surfview Drive in the Hammock.  The caller recovered a gym bag on the beach containing fifteen individually wrapped packages of a white substance which field-tested positive for cocaine.

At about 9:40 a.m. Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived on the scene at the Vilano Causeway Boat Ramp in response to a reported small plane crash. The pilot of the four-seater passenger plane was identified to Historic City News as 42-year-old John Bailey of Saint Augustine.

Analysts with USA Today compiled a list of more than 30,000 cases of police de-certifications, including 33 from St Augustine, St Augustine Beach, and St Johns County.  In Florida, de-certification occurs when the 19-member Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission issues a Final Order in the case.

Man arrested for molesting 11-year-old child of deceased girlfriend

On July 2, 2019 the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to investigate the complaint of an 11-year-old girl who claimed that for over a year, she had been inappropriately touched by 53-year-old Phillip Frederick Martin, who was the former boyfriend of the child’s now deceased mother.

Telling Historic City News reporters that the process is “standard operating practice”, on Thursday November 7, 2019, the City of St Augustine Water Treatment Plant operators resumed the process of feeding ammonia and reversion to chloramine disinfection.

Son armed with machete kidnaps his stepfather

A St Augustine man is in custody in lieu of $175,000 bond today, after the local Police Department reported to Historic City News that he attacked and kidnapped his stepfather, holding him hostage with a 36” machete.
