Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.  Sunday May 5th is also known as Battle of Puebla Day.

Tour the 1883 Depot-Waterworks building in St Augustine during a special one-day program taking place Saturday May 4th starting at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Johns County Library Main Branch with a presentation about the building’s history.

This Annual Festival being held Friday May 3rd through 5th, commemorates the life and music of Gamble Rogers; whose passion for balladry, storytelling, and oral tradition have shaped Americana music.

Entertainment Director Crawford Boyd and Executive Director Sallie O’Hara extend their invitation to all Historic City News readers to join the celebration Saturday May 11, 2019 for Music Fest 2019 at the Vilano Beach Oceanfront Park.  The fun starts at 3:00 p.m. ’til 7:00 p.m.

Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
