Volunteer leaders honored for service to Save Fish Island

St. Augustine Archaeological Association president, Marsha A Chance, reported to Historic City News that the leaders of Save Fish Island were recently honored for raising awareness about preserving the island. The 57-acres, located on the eastern edge of the Matanzas River south of the Mickler-O’Connell Bridge, will be purchased with Florida Forever Funds and managed as a passive park by the City of St. Augustine.

Germain convicted of attempted first-degree murder

Friday morning, Historic City News local reporters were informed that a St Johns County jury convicted Brad Timothy Germain of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer.  Germain is a seven-time convicted felon. He has a history of committing aggravated assault as well as aggravated battery against law enforcement officers.
