County inspector enters plea on extortion charges

300-CORRUPTIONHistoric City News has learned that a former construction inspector, employed by St Johns County, pled guilty in federal court yesterday to extortion of local businesses who were the subject of his inspections — he now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.

Driver identified in crash with St Johns County patrolcar

The Florida Highway Patrol has updated Historic City News with information concerning the crash yesterday morning that involved an off-duty St Johns County deputy sheriff, reported to be on his way to work, and the driver of a Mazda RX8 — both men were injured and each was transported to an area hospital.

As deputy Thomas Bickhart responded to the call of a witness who had uncovered the gruesome crime Saturday night, he prepared himself for what he was about to see. Local Historic City News reporters were informed that a nearby resident had killed his own dog with a machete because it bit him on the hand.
