It is with great sadness that Historic City News reports the unexpected passing of Sandra Louise Conners on April 28, 2023. She was born on January 9, 1958, in Rockford, Illinois to Arthur and Thelma McGinnis, and will forever be remembered by her loved ones and those whose lives she touched.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services and the National Park Service will welcome 30 new citizens during a special naturalization ceremony this Friday, April 21st at 10:00 am. A representative of Castillo de San Marcos National Monument informed Historic City News that the ceremony is being held, in part, to celebrate National Park Week.

As part of the Holy Week celebration, the second oldest Easter Parade in the nation was held in St Augustine. The festivities have been a tradition for years enjoyed by thousands of spectators who fill San Marco Avenue, Aveneda Menendez, Cathedral Place, and Cordova Street — the main roads in the stately city.
Historic City News has learned that the Woolsey Morcom law firm has hired former St Johns County Sheriff David Shoar as their director of investigations. The firm is counting on Shoar to bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the team.
During a sentencing hearing that commenced at 9:03 a.m. yesterday in St Augustine, Historic City News observed as 32-year-old defendant Luis Arthur Casado learned his fate on remaining misdemeanor charges stemming from the shooting incident that killed Adam Alexander Amoia on May 29, 2021.
