Homeland Security Investigations informed Historic City News today of the disruption of a major marijuana trafficking operation, connecting suppliers in California with a distribution network in Northeast Florida.  The operation in Jacksonville supplied St Johns County and others in the area.

A St Johns County Sheriff’s Office spokesman reported to Historic City News that a Walgreens employee was arrested Thursday after she stole more than 200 prescription pills from the pharmacy’s store located on CR-210 West.

Germain sentenced to life for attempted murder of deputy

A St. Augustine man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, months after being convicted of attempted first-degree murder of a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Deputy, according to sheriff’s office records.  Brad Germain, 42, was convicted in November after the State Attorney’s Office said he attempted to murder a deputy with a homemade pipe gun.

Historic City News learned that at about 3:00 a.m. this morning, a late model Toyota Venza crashed into a San Marco Avenue antique shop causing extensive damage.  No injuries were reported, according to televised news accounts.
