As Hurricane Dorian heads north, Florida Power & Light Company is working to restore power for customers impacted by the storm’s outer bands. Historic City News was informed earlier today that the company had restored more than 150,000 outages since the storm started moving up Florida’s east coast.
Effective 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, the curfew and mandatory evacuation orders enacted in St. Johns County in response to Hurricane Dorian are rescinded.

At the end of last month, I was able to attend the 101st American Legion Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was an honor to be there and see all the Legionnaires.
St Augustine residents are under mandatory evacuation as it is still unclear when or if the catastrophic storm surge of the Category 4 hurricane will make it to shore. It’s at a near standstill, moving just 1 mph to the west; yet, meteorologists are saying even a slight deviation to the current trajectory could cause Dorian to crash into the state’s East Coast.
The Public Affairs office of the Florida National Guard reported the following updates to Historic City News this afternoon.
Starting at noon today, Monday September 2nd, Historic City News readers will encounter traffic signals at the following locations that the City of St Augustine has placed on “flash mode”.
St. Johns County spokesman Michael Ryan informed Historic City News reporters that, due to potential impacts from Hurricane Dorian, the County Fairgrounds is now open for RV and boat storage. This service is free for county residents and visitors until seven-days after the evacuation order has been lifted.
